SUMMARY:Infusing Your Soil and Plants with Beneficial Microbes Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Building truly healthy soils can unlock tremendous symbiotic benefits from the relationship between plants and microbes\, including highly nutrient-dense produce\, carbon sequestration\, water retention\, and resilience in the face of stress\, extreme weather\, and pest and disease pressure. The use of compost extracts\, compost teas\, and other low-cost amendments to inoculate soils with beneficial microbes is a growing soil health practice with incredible potential. Backed by fascinating emerging science and proven through remarkable in-field results\, these practices can be done at any scale and in any context\, from backyard gardens to large commercial pastures\, orchards\, and vineyards. \nThis webinar series will explore the science behind the workings of soil microbes\, and why microbial inoculants are so effective in plant and soil health; describe and / or demonstrate practical\, low-cost methods of creating quality composts and extracts; and share case studies and success stories of farmers using microbial inoculants on their farms. \nWho will benefit from this series?\nAny growers of plants\, particularly in a commercial setting; emphasis will be placed on pastures\, row crops\, and vineyards\, while offering tips to the backyard gardener or homesteader as well. Soil is soil\, and the same principles apply across scales and crop types.

SUMMARY:PFAS & Compost: Navigating Testing & Customer Engagement
DESCRIPTION:Compost manufacturers are passive receivers of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)\, and the responsibility of these “forever chemicals” must be addressed upstream. However\, as awareness of PFAS continues to grow\, compost manufacturers are increasingly being asked whether they test their products for PFAS\, what the potential risks are\, and how PFAS-related information is communicated to customers. \nThis webinar brings together perspectives from compost manufacturers\, academia\, compost laboratories\, and legal professionals to provide insight into the best ways to engage customers on the topic and explore the question many composters are asking: should I test my compost for PFAS? \nPanelists will discuss their current procedures\, weigh the benefits and challenges of PFAS testing\, explain how PFAS testing differs from traditional compost analyses\, explore customer engagement strategies\, and discuss how these issues fit within the legal context. The webinar is intended to provide information and perspectives to support decision-making and does not advocate for or against PFAS testing.
